Right to the Fight

In a world where fighting for what we believe in isn't accepted because we should all be nice to each other... I say that is absurd. War, politics and business, or religion if thats your thing...Keep the language reasonably clean...and duke it out! I'm a Conservative...unlike the Liberal sites everyone is welcome to post here.

Some interested and often ignored numbers

ARE WE STUPID OR WHAT?

It makes you wonder.......

Part 1
Remember the election in 2006?

Thought you might like to read the following:

A little over one year ago:
1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;
2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;
3) The unemployment rate was 4.5%.
Since voting in a Democratic Congress in 2006 we have seen:
1) Consumer confidence plummet;
2) The cost of regular gasoline soar to over $4.10 a gallon;
3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase);
4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate (stock and mutual fund losses);
5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2 trillion dollars;
6) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.
7) Food prices skyrocketing over 30% in 1 year.

America voted for change in 2006, and we got it!

Remember, it is Congress that makes the laws and spends our money -not the President. He has to work with what's handed to him.

Part 2:
Taxes...Whether Democrat or a Republican you will find these statistics enlightening and amazing.
www.taxfoundation.org/publications/show/151.HTML

Taxes under CLINTON-1999 Taxes under BUSH-2008
Single earning: Single earning:
30K - taxed- $ 8,400 30K - taxed $ 4,500
50K - taxed $ 14,000 50K - taxed $ 12,500
75K - taxed $ 23,250 75K - taxed $ 18,750
Married earning: Married earning:
60K - taxed $ 16,800 60K - taxed $ 9,000
75K - taxed $ 21,000 75K - taxed $ 18,750
125K - taxed $ 38,750 125K - taxed $ 31,250

Barack Obama promises to return to the higher tax rates if elected. It is amazing how many people who fall into the categories above think Bush is screwing them and Bill Clinton was the greatest President ever.

If elected, Barack Obama has already promised that he will repeal the Bush tax cuts, and amazingly, a good portion of the people who fall into the categories above can't wait for it to happen.
PART 3:
You think the war in Iraq is costing us too much? Read this: Boy, am I confused. I have been hammered with the propaganda that it is the Iraq war and the war on terror that is bankrupting us. I now find that to be RIDICULOUS. Read on...

Are we THAT stupid?

If this doesn't bother you, then just delete the message. If, on the other hand, it raises the hair on the back of your neck, I hope you continue to forward it to every legal resident in the country including every representative in Washington , D.C

Our Lazy Congress

The Congress is possibly going to authorize $700B of bailout money...but apparently the biggest concern about doing it quickly, is that the Congress wants to go on Recess in less than 2 weeks!

Pretty pathetic! They will essentially be taking $2,300 from every man, woman and child...and their biggest concern is their next vacation! I will blame the Democrats controlling both houses of Congress on this one...If they wanted to lead, and serve us well...they would stay and get the job done right!

The Sarah Palin Chronicles

Sarah Palin...like her, fear her or hate her? No doubt though, she is a force.
In my opinion, if McCain wins...it will be 100% resulting from the addition of Gov. Sarah Palin (AK - Rep.)

If the Obama polling surge (due to the economic news), starts to disappear again...and the debates go well for the McCain and Palin (at least beating lowered expectations)...I think we will see a very strong momentum shift again towards McCain and Palin.

I think that it is very likely that McCain picked up at least an additional 10% of women voters, with the selection of Sarah Palin. In a tight electoral and demographic situation...McCain picking up an extra 10% or more of the largest voting block in the United States (women)...is a huge factor. When also considering that he secured and energized the Republican and Conservative bases, and also picked someone popular in the West which Obama was courting...it is huge! It is also important to note that 53% of voters being women, and 2/3 of those voting Democratic...stealing 10% or more of women voters could be devastating to Obama.

Morris Maps the Election

Former Clinton insider, Dick Morris, is laying out the Electoral College map on a regular basis, based on current polling and trends...interesting but very fluid.

Bailouts and Christmas Trees! A new RTC??

I consider this to be a separate thread and issue...since it is broader than just the Mortgage and Housing shit going on...I would like to know what others think of the proposed Bailouts. It is already looking like any measures passed to address current woes, will become what they call in Washington a "Christmas tree"...with the Congress being unable to resist the urge to hang on every imaginable bit of wasteful spending...government "pork", the gift that keeps on costing.
In Washington, there is nothing that we can't afford, that they can't give away...

CNBC on Friday asked for suggestions for a name for the new Entity to handle the Bailout (like the old RTC)...one of my personal favorites was "the Stabilization and Housing Investment Trust" [SHIT]

I was going to propose, "the Corporation for Economic Stabilization and Securitization" [CESS] since they were planning on buying and holding pools of illiquid assets and securities of which the true value is unknown. I thought regular reports concerning those assets, would be fun...reports about the cess-pool :)

Looking forward to other suggestions...if this stuff gets approved. The old RTC (Resolution Trust Corporation) did fine, but I think the new plan/efort will fail.

The Mortgage Mess and Housing Crisis

We have all sorts of lovely issues to discuss or fight about now...this Thread will be the arena for the Mortgage Mess and Housing Crisis. I spent a bit of time in the Mortgage biz...and what has happened has been no surprise to me. I think everyone is to blame for the mess...except for me!
